OTR, color-enhanced

(Updated 10-14-13: I walked past this yesterday, and the sun hit it just right, leading me to conclude it's a Butterkrust ghostsign.)

The Special Treat I Promised

Okay, so maybe it's not that special, but it sure seemed neat.  Out walking with a friend, we passed by the casino construction site, and as she was looking at the new building, I was looking at the older ones across the street.   I wasn't even hunting for signs.   Instead, I was looking for buildings to rehab.  (Not that I do, it's just a game we play.)  I stared at this one for a few minutes before the signs became apparent.

It dawned on me...

When I notice these signs, I usually have sunglasses on.  And the sunglasses are usually polarized.  Meaning, I can see them quite distinctly in person, and can't understand why the photos don't turn out as well.   So, I've played with the light of the photo.

Walnut, OTR

And not that old, or exciting.
But, kiddies, I've got a special one, coming soon.  It blew me away, when I saw it.

Above Yum Yum

Is that place a legitimate restaurant?  It looks... abandoned, yet, every now and then, there's a sign on the sidewalk, with the specials of the day.  However, I've never, ever seen anyone go in, or come out, and no-one has ever mentioned eating there.  (Shades of Sweeny Todd, maybe?)

Anyway, another faded sign, on Race, in the 900 block.  Completely illegible.

4th and Plum

The lighting makes this one extremely difficult to see in the picture, but it was visible enough to the eye.  Still unreadable, but visible.
